Jon Hakobyan is a sophomore studying at the American University of Armenia (AUA). After returning from his military service in 2018, Jon switched his major from business to data science, and continued his bachelor’s education with tuition assistance. 

The American-style education is what encouraged Jon to attend AUA. He believes that the knowledge and practice gained at the University will open better opportunities for him to further his education and develop his career. Jon plans to pursue a master’s degree in the future and continue his work in the field of data science, with dreams to reach greater success and possibly establish a start-up company. 

He says, “We should all appreciate our veterans more. They give two years of their lives to defending Armenia and protecting the safety of its citizens, so we in return must give them more opportunities to achieve their academic goals. This campaign encourages us to do better.”
